The AN970-3 is a flat, large-area washer for 3/16 in (4.8 mm) bolt-size hardware. Manufactured from carbon steel with cadmium plating, it provides a larger bearing area than a standard AN960 washer.

It is commonly used beneath the bolt head and nut on wooden structures to help distribute clamping load and reduce the risk of surface crushing.
