The Garmin GTX 345R is a remote-mount Mode S Extended Squitter (ES) transponder configuration with GPS and a supplied 1.2 m harness. It is designed for installations where transponder control is provided through a compatible cockpit display.

The GTX 345R combines Mode S transponder functionality with ADS-B Out and ADS-B In capability. Garmin describes the remote-mounted version as requiring a compatible display for transponder mode control and squawk-code entry.
