The 3-Pin Aircraft External Power Plug is a female external-power connector for 12–28 VDC aircraft ground-power connections. It is identified by manufacturer part number 904-342 and Roctexo part number RX1-11-03158.

The plug has a red polycarbonate body, solid copper contact sleeves with silver plating, and an integrated solenoid activation pin. Its screw-together construction supports cable installation using torch-soldered contact connections.

Overview

Standard 3-pin female plug for external 12-28 VDC power to airframe, equivalent to NATO AN2551 plug. Red polycarbonate construction screws together in minutes. Contact sleeves are solid copper, silver-plated ready for torch-soldering.


Includes solenoid activation pin. Corrosion proof. Mates with AN2552-3A or MS3506-1 external power receptacle.

  • What is the max amps for this plug? 1500 amps peak, 240 amps continuous.
  • What is the largest wire size that will fit the plug terminal connections? Wire reservoir in contact is 0.474” ID, so 2/0 AWG stranded copper wire is largest.
  • How are the wires secured to the contacts? Crimp? Solder? Wires are torch-soldered to the contacts. Recommend a chef’s torch.
  • Does this power plug fit the Cessna 177B Cardinal’s external 3-pin external power part? Yes, this plug will fit the external power receptacle on most late model Cessna aircraft.
  • So you must solder your heavy gauge cables in to this unit for connection to the
  • power source? Yes, the 3-pin plug (11-03158) uses solder type joints. Too large to crimp. Requires a chef’s torch (or similar) to heat the solder well before inserting the cable.
