The Proxalert R5 is a passive aircraft proximity alerter designed to help pilots identify nearby transponder-equipped traffic. It receives transponder replies from aircraft in the vicinity and presents traffic information on its display to support visual acquisition of potential conflicts.

The unit can display the squawk code, altitude, vertical trend and estimated distance for up to three detected traffic threats simultaneously. Vertical-trend information indicates whether a detected aircraft is climbing, descending or level.
