Sandia SaE5-35 Encoder RS232

The Sandia Aerospace SAE5-35 is a compact solid-state altitude encoder designed to convert pressure altitude into digital altitude data. Manufacturer part number 705154-00.

It provides Gillham Grey Code output for a Mode C transponder together with two independent RS-232 altitude-data outputs. The manufacturer states that the RS-232 outputs provide 10 ft (approximately 3 m) resolution and that the encoder incorporates Altitude In-Flight Monitoring (AIM), which can indicate deviation from a selected altitude when installed with the applicable external switch and annunciator.
