This hinged pitot tube protector is designed for pitot tubes with a 3/16 in (approximately 4.8 mm) outside diameter.

The protector is intended to cover the pitot opening while the aircraft is parked. According to the supplied product information, its hinged flap opens automatically during take-off at approximately 40 mph and closes automatically at the end of the landing roll.
