The SIRS Master Landing Compass, part number 954-2399, is a highly sensitive magnetic compass intended for accurate heading readings during aircraft compass-swing procedures. Its prism sight line and retractable sight vane support precise observation of magnetic headings.

The instrument is constructed principally from non-magnetic brass and uses a liquid-filled card for damping across a broad temperature range. A non-magnetic tripod is recommended by SIRS where stabilisation is required during readings.
