The B&C L-40-CM-LR3D-14 is a 14 V, 40 A alternator system for experimental/homebuilt aircraft. This configuration combines the B&C L-40 belt-driven alternator with the LR3D-14 external controller/regulator and a case-mount installation kit intended for use with a B&C starter.

The L-40 uses an externally regulated, aircraft-style electrical arrangement. B&C specifies the LR3D-14 controller/regulator for 14 V installations; the regulator provides over-voltage protection and a low-voltage warning function.
