The APS Blacksteel Brake Disc, part number APS164-22201, is a replacement aircraft brake disc supplied individually.

APS Blacksteel brake discs are CNC machined from a one-piece forging. The forged construction is designed to provide directional grain flow following the disc contour, avoiding a welded-disc construction.

The proprietary Blacksteel heat treatment transforms the surface layer of the steel rather than applying a wear-off coating. It provides the disc’s black finish and is intended to improve resistance to corrosion and oxidation during the thermal cycling associated with aircraft braking systems.
