The A-740 Control 72 Red Knob is a push-pull ratchet control featuring a red plastic knob. Its detented ratchet design is intended to help retain selected control positions under vibration conditions.

The control uses a solid stainless-steel wire core within a flexible metal casing with a polyethylene liner. It has a stated maximum travel of approximately 89 mm and a stated maximum temperature rating of approximately 93–121 °C. The assembly may be shortened as required.
