The APS Blacksteel Brake Disc, part number APS164-01300, is an aircraft brake disc designed for use in applicable brake assemblies.

APS Blacksteel brake discs are CNC machined from a one-piece forging. The forged construction is intended to provide directional grain flow following the contour of the disc, supporting strength and helping reduce the risk associated with welded disc designs.

The proprietary Blacksteel heat treatment transforms the surface layer of the steel rather than applying a wearable coating. It provides the disc’s black appearance and is intended to improve resistance to corrosion and oxidation under the repeated thermal cycling encountered in aircraft braking service.
